The Village Inn - Wayne

Very happy we found this place. Food was fantastic and the staff was very attentive. Great out of the way place.

Visit #1 (spring 2019): My first visit here was great. The waitress was very attentive and the food was great. No complaints. Visit #2 (Fall 2019): My girlfriend and I decided to come again. We had a horrific experience. We were stuck with one of the worst waitresses I have ever met. Her name is Michelle. She rarely checked in on our table despite being only one of 8 people in the dining area. She spent most of her night working the room as she described it. This was basically her attempt to flirt with a table of 50 something men. She reeked of alcohol and slurred her words at times. There were a few crumbs on our table that we barely noticed. But Michelle did apparently. So she proceeded to blame the mistake on a young lady who was bussing tables. She called her an idiot in front of my girlfriend and I then scolded the young lady in front of the entire dining room. At the end of the meal we asked for a check and presented a gift certificate. Michelle took this as an opportunity to remind us, to our faces, that we are required to tip on the full amount. Visit #3 (Jan 2020): We decided to give the place one more try, praying that Michelle would not be working. Sadly she was, but we decided to give it a try anyway. Instead of a greeting, Michelle ran up to our table and told us that she would barely be able to wait on us because she had too many tables. Here we go again I thought! We rushed through the menu and gave her our orders hoping that we would see it come out in a timely manner. The food came out late about 40 mins later for a pasta and meat dish. Michelle missed our salads. No big deal. But instead of admitting it up front, Michelle stated 3 times that she brought them. Eventually she relented and admitted the mistake. Went for our birthdays. Had been there 15 years ago, remembered it was good. On the reservation request it asked for any special requests. I asked for a table near a wall or in a corner as my husband has hearing issues. Got there and was seated in th middle of the restaurant, with a birthday party of at least 40 people right next to us. I told the seater that we requested a corner table or near a wall and was told this was the only table for 2. The others were tables for 4. I explained the issue and was told this is all I have for you. Why ask for special requests if they are ignored? The food was good and the server very good, but the noise level was soooo high, we couldn’t have conversation! I will never go back!
