The Purple Foot is a great lunch spot in Waynesboro--if it's nice outside, I highly recommend eating on the garden patio. They have a large selection of wraps, salads, paninis, sandwiches, and baked potatoes, as well as soup. Cookies too! Also, to try, is the signature lavendar lemonade. Apparently some people don't like it (although I don't know why), so they'll let you sample it first if you're unsure. There's a little gift shop filled with odds and ends, as well as a wine shop. Good place to pick out fun little things, as well as PF mementos.
Overpriced. We were charged extra for a glass of wine that we didn’t order after lunch. We also ordered multiple meat trays, a tradition we uphold every year for the holidays. Unfortunately, the size of the small tray seems to have shrunk since last year. Each tray was priced at $30, despite being told over the phone that they would be $25. To make matters worse, there are additional charges for the trays: $3.95 for the lid and $3.95 for the bottom—each on top of the original price. These are gifts, so if we want to ask everyone to return them or pick them up later, that’s a hassle we’d prefer to avoid. We weren't informed about this until I reviewed the receipt and asked. It’s disappointing to feel taken advantage of by a local shop.
Charming little shop filled with souvenirs from various countries. For lunch, I strongly recommend the French onion soup, which comes with a layer of melted cheese on top and is served in a bread bowl. I practically cleaned the bowl! The serving size is a cup, so I suggest ordering something else to satisfy your hunger. I also tried a cleverly named pita sandwich called "Pita, the Great." It was decent, though not extraordinary, but the avocado dressing was delicious. It’s a fun spot for lunch, and I definitely recommend it!
The wait staff is friendly attentive. There is one narrow doorway entrance leading in from the gift shop, and when you walk into the small room where everybody sits, every single person looks up at you. Can you say, Fish bowl ? lol, we were the youngest people there, and we aren 't whippersnappers anymore, sonny-boy! But once you get past that rather awkward moment, this is a pleasant place to have lunch try something with a blast from the past that isn 't the same-ol, same-ol tiresome franchise. I had what they call the Mexican Dream, which is a baked potato topped with chili con carne cheese. I wanted to love it, but it fell short. I want to try something else soon, because they have an intriguing variety. They have 'different ' (meaning more unique) offerings on the menu, but our food seemed to be re-heated frozen fare, and we have not gone back quite yet, but plan to one day. They might have been having an off-day, and everyone was so friendly that they deserve a second chance to impress. Link to their interesting menu: [hidden link] 01:28:11
