The food was predictable but good quality, with some dishes served hot and others cold on the same plate. Overall, it met our expectations. The drink prices were reasonable, the decor was nice and clean, and the restaurant was busy.
It was a beautiful sunny day and we were looking forward to having lunch with our loved ones, including our well-behaved golden retriever puppy. However, our plans were disrupted when a staff member informed us that dogs were not allowed outside the pub, despite there being no signage and us sitting away from other customers. Even though we had already ordered three main meals, we were told we had to leave. We were disappointed by this policy, especially during a time of financial hardship. It seems that Wetherspoons is not feeling the effects of the cost of living crisis yet, but they may soon if they continue with unsupportable policies like this one. Our dog is a part of our family, and if he is not welcome, we will gladly take our business to a more inclusive establishment.
Our daughter, who lives in Hailsham, came to visit us for lunch on a rainy Saturday. The restaurant was bustling, but we were able to find a table. Our daughter loved her all-day brunch, and we enjoyed bowls of chips and onion rings. The prices were very reasonable, and the staff were friendly and efficient. We noticed some outdoor seating in the back, so it will be lovely to come back on a sunny day.
I would like to thank the staff at this spoons because they where all friendly, had smiles on their faces. One of the kitchen staff I believe is part of management called Darren was very nice, cheerful when bringing out our meals. All bar staff was amazing, happy. The chain should be proud of the team at Hailsham and I would recommend folks to try the friendly pub. Me and my partner had a wonderful experience, Thanks Guys for a wonderful experience. Before lockdown we regularly visited the George for meals and were very impressed with the quality and value. We were therefore looking forward to a meal there this week before our visit to the Pavilion cinema. I'm sorry to say we were sadly disappointed. I ordered the Beef Madras which was ok but the poppadoms were soft and partly uncooked and the nan was like a piece of leather whereas on our previous visits they had been superb. My wife had the steak which previously came with peas, onion rings and a mushroom. This time she was served an overdone steak with just chips nothing else. So sad to see our local pub go downhill like this and it has put us off visiting again.
