No friendliness from the older lady taking the order, a hello would of been nice and nothing from the...waitress delivering. Another customer stormed out as he was completely ignored. I gave an extra mark as some of the hot food look quite nice. The cakes are way overpriced though £4 for a slice of fruit cake? Avoid at all costs.
We visit every couple of months, and have done for years. Sadly, the last few visits have been a bit disappointing. The cakes and desserts are still excellent, large portions, lots of choice and delicious but the savoury food has really gone down hill. We...visited today and were really disappointed with our lunch. My husband ordered a BLT baguette which was a bit of lettuce and tomato in a baguette with the bacon placed over the top. It looked odd and like they couldn't be bothered to make it properly. He said it tasted okay but not that great. I had quiche which had a nice flavour but the pastry was so soggy it was as if it hadn't been cooked properly in the first place (this happened last time we went too, and on that occasion the pastry was so inedible I had to send the food back). The quiche came with a brown baguette that tasted very stale, so I didn't eat it. Our friends had jacket potatoes and these were a real let down. Clearly they were microwaved, not crispy at all, and just very sad looking and tasting. Also, twice when staff bought drinks and then cakes to our table, they didn't clear the empty plates. Two different members of staff on two separate occasions completely ignored that fact that we had several empty plates and cups piled up, they just gave us our new drinks/cakes and walked away from the table empty handed. I think in future we will just have cakes and coffee here and not bother having a proper lunch. Such a shame as it used to be fantastic here.
It is a lovely spot for a breakfast as it is part of a lovely garden centre. The big breakfast, veggie breakfast and eggs benedict were utterly delicious and staff were helpful and friendly. I would possibly suggest increasing the portion to two sausages on...the big breakfast. We also ordered sides of hash browns as these were not included. An added bonus was their outdoor seating so we could take our dog. Would definitely recommend for breakfasts and look forward to returning.
Called in today on way home from Brighton. £5.95 for Toasties I thought to myself these must be good at this price. Standard toastie plan white sliced bread a wafer thin tomato and piece of cucumber on top of a piece of lettuce that was...smaller than them. The coffee was a small cup overpriced. The only saving grace was the fruit strudel with cream at £4.95. Total bill was £25.10! Would I go back not on your nelly at these prices. The toilets were to their credit spotless.
Visited for lunch the tuna salad was crisp, well presented plate full. Apple pie and custard delicious filling. New friendly helpful staff
