The White Hart - Wealden

Absolutely disappointed beyond belief. Why even bother opening and advertising that they do food? We really should have walked straight back out the door upon entering. But we had read reviews and really wanted to try this place. The staff were disinterested. Pointed to a table where we were to sit for our evening meal. We were given what can only be described as filthy sticky pieces of paper that were supposed to represent a menu. The table was dirty and sticky with drink stains. Nevertheless we proceeded to order 3 main meals. Over an hour later we still had no food and not once did anyone come over to the table to explain why. The place was by no means busy. There were 4 tables with customers! After approximately an hour and 10 minutes we asked if there was a time that we could expect our food to be ready. Bearing in mind our order was for baby back ribs, a steak burger and a chicken skewer. So not overly complicated. We were told that there was only 1 chef working!. And that the manageress would go and check for us. She returned to say that food would be ready in 5 minutes. Approximately 10 minutes later the baby ribs and steak burger arrived. We had to wait a further 5 minutes for the chicken skewer meal. When it did arrive the chicken was cold and absolutely cremated. So much so that the chicken itself had started to disintegrate and a powder of charcoal remains were on the plate. Absolutely disgusting and inedible. Our entire party left all the food and we went to the bar to pay and left. Disgusted, disappointed, disillusioned and would NEVER RETURN

Took a friend out for a birthday dinner, had great service and great food, an excellent menu steaks cooked perfectly, friendly staff highly recommend

Date night with my husband, greeted by friendly staff. Very attentive and very friendly throughout our visit. Food was amazing and delicious! Will definitely be going back!

Had an excellent roast at this pub. The service was outstanding and the place had a great vibe. We were even able to order our roasts over the phone when we booked the table at midday even though we weren’t going to eat until 18.00. I can thoroughly recommend.

We visited the white hart for a birthday after months of wanting to visit. We had been here on many occasions for drinks but because of the cost we decided to wait for a special occasion to visit. We booked a table on a Sunday, however on arrival it was very quiet. We asked if we could sit in the conservatory which was empty apart from one table. We were refused and told to sit at a table by the bar. Which is fine but only one other family arrived at the premises In nearly two hours and nobody else sat in the conservatory so we were a bit confused why we were refused here as others were eating. We then ordered the kids burgers which looked great and they enjoyed. We also ordered chicken wings which were ok. A bottle of red Spanish wine witch wasn 't what we ordered from the menu. See photo. We ordered a crianza and received a reserve. We did question the bar manager and she responded with that 's the only rioja on the menu and smiled, left. When we bought it up with the waitress she just said ok . Now, my partner who 's birthday it was for our special visit is from Spain and from this area who knows these wines well. So knows we were sold the wrong wine and was brushed off. Unfortunately his roast wasn 't as expected either. Two thin overcooked slices of beef and a very sad spread. Sadly won 't be re visiting.
