This spot has good potential, but there are a number of improvements that need to be made. We would stop in again to give this spot another chance based on the excellent music entertainment.
We have been here twice for the Blues bands on a Sunday afternoon! The music has been great and running into neighbours and friends is a wonderful plus! They opened just a short while and had some difficulty, but as our neighbourhood bar, we all wish them great success! They also provide free food(on Sunday)and for Father's Day yesterday, it was quite a feast of sausage, hamburgers, hot dogs, roast potatoes and some great salads! Dessert was also included! The drinks are reasonable and the patio furniture is quite beautiful and comfortable! Of course the view and the breeze right along the canal and train bridge add a great backdrop to this very friendly bar! Tanya is eager to please her patrons and will go out of her way, if they don't have a particular drink! I guess white wine is very popular and they run out quickly but I'm sure that's because they are just finding their place and their consumers needs when they have live music on the patio! Give the place a try, you will be pleasantly surprised!
To tell you all the truth I was reading reviews on google. They weren't that great. Under my understanding Dain City House Tavern is under new management. A bunch of came down to see a friends band play. Food: We didn't know what to expect so we started with a side of fries. They are hand cut and fried. They were so good we ordered two more plates. I thought I'd try the wings however they were abit small but the sauce they make makes a difference. Service: We got our drinks quick, and followed up on if we needed a refill. The food came out quick as well. They also keep the washrooms in good condition. The management/owners were also on the floor making sure everyone has been taken care of!Next time I am in the area I will stop in for a visit!
We had a wonderful experience at this lovely café. Despite our language barrier, the staff kindly helped us understand the menu. The food was delicious, the prices were reasonable, and the location was perfect.
In recent years, Montreal has seen a proliferation of independent cafes, but the HoMa neighborhood still appears to have a limited selection of them.
