We were there with a large group of people for the weekend and after spending all day at the vineyards (Norm Hardie the best), we had a nice dinner one night, and the next night went back much later for end of night drinks at the staff's encouragement. The Drake is lovely with its beach front and ambience, but if you want a more casual, less pretentious place, we had a very enjoyable time at the Pomodoro
Made a reservation. Showed up and table was reserved in back corner which was fine because we have two young children. Cool design but slightly cold feeling and no lights made ambience non existent. Food was very well done. We had the Pan seared Gnocchi and Chicken Parmesan. We have no problem paying good money for good food but the deal breaker for us was when we got the bill and saw that we were charged $12 for a kids portion of noodles with butter. Can you believe that. Been to many fine dinning restaurants where this would be half the price. Won't go back for that reason only.
Enjoyed wonderful food and service at this restaurant on Monday evening. Highly recommend for knowledgeable and helpful staff (my husband is in a wheelchair). Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Prince Edward County.
To start with, all restaurants in PEC have trouble finding and retaining good service staff, so one cannot expect big city level service. Pomodoro is no exception, but I think it is as good on this front as any, East & Main perhaps being an exception. My wife and I went for dinner on a Tuesday, when they are very busy given most other restaurants in Wellington are closed, and the service was just fine and the staff very friendly. The food is excellent, although the menu leans heavily on the pasta side. But the pasta is very well done. Excellent vegetarian options. Reasonable wine selection, both PEC and Italian. Very reasonable pricing. I gather the summer of 2016 was a challenge in the kitchen, with quite a bit of turnover, but that is settled with Chef Lilly in control and doing a great job.We will be back!
Great food except Caesar salad was bland. Service poor - inattentive and unprofessional. Long wait on food.
