We chose three different tortes and a slate roll, and all of them had delightful aromas. It was a perfect spot to warm up on a chilly winter day.
The cakes here show that you don’t need mock meat to create a substantial vegan dessert. I especially enjoyed the chili con corn, particularly with the potato topping. It made for a perfect meal on a chilly, rainy day in the Blue Mountains.
The experience was mediocre—neither impressive nor awful. I have had better vegetable pies at Homony Bakery in Katoomba.
2 stars because they tried. the cakes lacked taste and very hard on the cornstarch texture. the tomato cake had so much pfeffer as if they had got the recipe wrong. my mouth was in fire. we added salt to try something else. the satay pie was interesting, but had crispy pieces in it. not sure whether undercooked or edible. the castor was just a corn maybe quinoa? smashed together with random vegetables. the apple and rhabarb cakes were so big pieces apfel, but the taste was beautiful. we will not be back.
I was so happy to see they had vegan options and was so excited to try them, but was left pretty disappointed. All the savoury vegan options were pretty much different curries. You don't really need 5 different curry pies. They all had some spice, so if you can't have spicy heat then there's no savoury options for you except for the vegan sausage roll, but even that had a small amount of spice. Overall the two that I tried tasted pretty bland. Honestly wouldn't go back unless they offered some different savoury options.
