It is a fairly small place on a quiet little side street but not far from the main strip of the Rüttenscheid. Very cozy inside and the ambiance is wonderful. The owner and staff are all very friendly, the wine selection is outstanding, and the food is wonderful. There is a standard menu as well as seasonal dishes which change daily. The pastas are particularly good (Spaghetti a la maison is great, as are the seasonal pastas) and so is the ratatouille. They have a nice selection of cheeses and meats as well. Some other reviewers were confused by the blätterteig quiche which is not a typical quiche (blätterteig is a puff pastry). There are a few seats at the bar and some outdoor seating when the weather is nice but if you have a larger group or want to go on the weekend I would recommend a reservation as it can get busy. I highly recommend this place for drinks or dinner.
I have been there several years ago, and there were wonderful things like whole grain noodles gratinee and salad with raspberry vinegar available. But this time things changed. Anyway, I had a salad with cheese, that was ok, except the olives that were a little dry and not nice tasting, but was enough for me. My company had something like blätterteig quiche mit lachs. However, this has nothing to do with a quiche, it was only a puff pastry (unfilled) with some salmon on top. It was not bad, but misdescribing what you get !Long story short, nice atmosphere, nice waitress, meals were worse than years ago (but ok) and currently bad in detail (olives) or described wrongly on the menu.Choice of wine is still good and satisfying everyone.Offered bottled water (Selters) is normaly chilled and ok, but with room temperature without nice taste!Ah yes, no smoker, but the smoking people is just outside in front of the door, entering means a walk through smoke !
Lovely little restaurant that managed to seat 7 of us as a walk in and declared regular favourite of my colleagues. Excellent value at around 15 Euro for couple of beers and main course. Portion sizes are generous to say the least! We shared a cheese plate to start which was lovely; great variety and quality. I had the homemade gnocchi which was delicious and my colleagues went for the house spaghetti or artichoke lasagne. The salads looked brilliant too. Only downfall is the common practice in Germany of not taking card, which caught a couple of us out.
The quality of eating is super, wine card is excellent and super friendly and fast service. the size of the restaurant is a bit small and therefore a bit loud and difficult to keep talks. but all in all a clear recommendation!
