My family rarely goes out for meals, so this first time visit to Michaleno 's was meant to be, and proved to be, a treat! Their website had a specials page where I found the Family Feast: 2 garlic bread, 1 appetizer (we chose fried pickles , 1 2liter, and a large 5 topping pizza for $26. Wow. The family enjoyed it greatly and the kids thanked my wife and I multiple times afterward. The food nor only filled their bellies, but also filled their little hearts up with voluntary gratitude that says a lot right there (they 're quite the food conneseurs . Wow, thank YOU Michaleno 's, for what turned out to be a wonderful thanks giving feast! The reason I didn 't my rating a five star rating was for a few minor factors, however. 1. For our 5 topping pizza, I ordered a chicken, bacon bits, diced tomatoes, spinach, Xtra mozzarella pizza. When I came to pick it up, the very nice gal at the front left me know they were out of tomatoes. No problem, I said. When I got home I opened the box and found that they also must have been out spinach (or forgot to put it on . How disappointing, I said. My five topping pizza turned out to be a three topping pizza. 2. I had to wait 15 minutes beyond the time I was told to come pick it all up. 15 extra minutes was not really a big deal to me (but I can 't speak for my famished family waiting with much anticipation at home . This extra wait time gave me the chance to sit and observe the business... It was busy, people were coming in and out, ordering, picking up their orders, and some came in to dine in. (btw it was Saturday evening. I was most impressed with the front desk girl who handled it all splendidly. This place is well loved! 3. When my order was ready, the girl forgot to get me the 2ltr, which I 'm glad I remembered to ask for. Whoops she is busy, I reminded myself. So overall it was a great experience and we 'd go back there for carry out and try dining in. (Aside from the very attractive painted Sicilian scenes on the wall, there is little other dine in atmosphere.
Bought a pan of lasagna for the next day. Excellent directions for finishing baking and then adding cheese which came in a bag and was plentiful and all was delicious. Will certainly buy again. Staff was so great.
I grew up in the Rockford, IL area, where there’s a great pizza place on every other street corner. My bar was set low when it came to finding decent local pizza when I originally moved to Slinger and even then, I was still extremely disappointed by all of the local offerings I had tried in the first year or so that I lived there. I ended up working in West Bend and one day, some coworkers ordered what genuinely smelled and looked like extremely good pizza. Had never even heard of nor seen the place when they told me it came from Michaleno’s. I tried a slice of what I assumed was just basic pepperoni pizza and my god, did it taste GREAT. I was really hungry when this all happened and thought that had played a heavy factor into my opinion, so I wanted to try it by myself at some point. About 2 weeks later I ended up ordering it. Got a 10 inch cheese/pepperoni thin crust, 10 inch cheese/pepperoni “blanket” pizza (a double crust stuffed pizza), and my mom got the meatball sub. It wasn’t nearly as good as I had originally been lead to believe; being starved did certainly make the pizza taste better at the first time. However, I was still impressed that I liked it nearly as much as I did. This was good pizza, in the West Bend area! I was so happy to finally discover this. A lot of people will talk about how flavorless the food is, claim it’s a tourist trap because of the hotels nearby, all kinds of slander that don’t actually talk about the food itself. In my opinion, that’s unfair. Michaleno’s exists in a town full of flavorless food; West Bend itself is a bit of a food desert. If you tried literally any other local place within a 3 mile radius of Michaleno’s, you’ll instantly realize just how much better Michaleno’s is. They make their food with significantly more quality than any place around them. From someone who grew up in one of the biggest pizza towns in the country and was left begging for good pizza near me about a year into living in Slinger, I give a huge thank you to Michaleno’s for making sure the West Bend area has at least one good Italian restaurant to go to. You wouldn’t understand how big of a deal that is to a lot of people. Keep up the great work!
