Wow! a real, traditional tee shop with modern twist. a “Gate to Try” is cheese with chili jam and cream cheese. it looks like a traditional cream tea, but the jam has a kick. the homemade suppe is delightful and cheerful today it was tomaten basilikum. visit worth, after the visit, after the visit.
Beautiful location but pricey. It has been a while since I last visited this charming restaurant by the canal. I frequent cafes in Newbury often, but this one is notably expensive. Charging £5 for a slice of cake and £17 for 2 slices of cake, a tea, and a latte. It is a lovely spot for tourists, but as a local, I prefer to support one of the many other independent cafes in the area.
Gorgeous Birthday Afternoon Tea! What a fabulous treat, everything homemade so delicious especially the scones sandwiches! Such a pretty tea shop beautifully decorated. Our table was gorgeous with pretty teacups saucers all laid out ready to use. Staff very welcoming smily. We visited the Ritz in London 2 weeks ago told the staff this was so much more enjoyable! Thank you for making my daughters birthday so enjoyable.
After a relaxing walk along the canal path, the Teashop is perfectly placed with plenty of outdoor seating and a great range of cakes, brunch dishes, teas and coffees. We enjoyed a coffee and cake watching the comings and goings on the canal. We were impressed by the excellent service, fast but also very friendly. We are not local, but would definitely revisit if we were in Newbury again.
