The Ricarton Inn - West Currie

Situated on Lanark Road in Currie, The Riccarton Inn is a charming traditional pub and restaurant that offers a delightful selection of real ales, whiskies, and gins. The menu features a variety of British dishes, and I highly recommend trying the cullen skink as a starter - a delicious smoked haddock and potato soup in a creamy broth. For my main course, I opted for the steak and mushroom pie with vegetables and chips, followed by two scoops of dairy ice cream and coffee. To complement my meal, I enjoyed a bottle of Italian white wine. The total bill was significantly lower than what I would have expected to pay in the city, and I left feeling completely satisfied.

The food was delicious and the service was very good despite the busy atmosphere. The noise level was quite high as we were seated in the bar, making it difficult to hear conversations at times. It is generally quieter in the restaurant section, so I would recommend requesting to be seated there next time.

First of all .. it's the Riccarton Inn and NOT the Ricarton Inn. Leaving that small point aside.. They were helpful and flexible in that they provided coffee first thing in the morning at very reasonable cost whilst they obviously would normally be preparing for lunch service. Lunch itself was freshly cooked and tasty. Only tiny quibble would be that the fish and chips were put on top of the mushy peas and slice of lemon and initially obscured them .. we'd happily return!

I recommend the torn skink as an appetizer that is a smoked squid and kartoffel soup in a creamy basic. I chose the steak and mushroom cake, sweet [and chips! followed by two creatures milcheis and coffee. this was washed with a bottle of Italian white wine. the total cost was much less than I would have paid in the city, and I went completely satisfied.
