Tucked away in a small village in Mid Devon this is a real gem. With a great range of beers and ciders, great value food and staff that are always friendly and accommodating, you could do far worse than spending an evening here.
We would thoroughly recommend the fish and chips, we went one Friday on the special lunch menu it included dessert, value for money. Staff very friendly, Roger the landlord very welcoming will definitely be visiting again.
After looking at some of the reviews on here my friend and I decided to try this pub. All the reviewers that rated the Tom Cobley Tavern as Excellent were spot on. What a find this place is. One get so used to pies being nothing more than a thin flaky lid on mediocre meat, the steak and ale pie here is in another league. It really is proper home made best you could eat steak and ale pie. So much soft tender top quality beef is packed into the enclosed beautiful pastry surrounding it that I kept running out of superlatives whilst I was eating it. It was actually hard to decide what to select as there was so much on the menu that I fancied. The landlord is great, so chatty and he made a good fuss of my little poodle, likewise the lovely girl that was our waitress. You people within easy distance of this place you are so lucky!
This little gem of a find was excellent, the owner was so good, fitting us in for Sunday lunch, really appreciated. The food was excellent also service We loved it meeting the locals
