My review is only based on the Fruit festival event as this drew me in to visit the garden centre. Seemed a little under prepared for the numbers of visitors. The overflow car park was feeling chaotic with cars getting stuck in the mulch and no pedestrian path, so small kids and parents walking between moving cars and near the stuck ones. The bbq ran out of sausages by 13:30 and it took 20min to get a coffee from the internal coffee shop. Unsure what the fruit element of the festival was apart from a table of berry plants on sale? The positives… The garden centre is small but has a nice selection of plants at decent prices.
Having seen others excellent reviews of Primrose Hill Nurseries, we were excited to go to a garden centre we hadn't been to before for a family birthday. Sadly the reviews did not meet with what we experienced. Firstly giant pot holes in the drive way, secondly the shop as you walked in needed attention. The plant section was fine, the plants were in good order. Quite a variety for a small garden centre. The cafe was the biggest let down. Not welcoming at all. Was given dirty looks by both staff members who were seated at one of the tables. They never said hello, or can we help you? Nothing. Very frosty. For a Monday morning there was very little to tempt you as the cakes looked as if they'd been there since Saturday. The cake covers were dirty. There was hardly anything and again, the staff who were directly behind us did not approach us and kept talking amongst themselves. We left immediately as we were all disgusted. We found cake, coffee and a warmer greeting at another garden centre. When reading that this place was the best kept secret in Lancashire, I don't believe it was for good reasons. The pictures posted on here are from a few years ago, and sadly its not that like that now.
Toilets very clean same with cutlery and tables, high standard of hygiene, food enjoyable and not over priced, pleasant atmosphere, enjoyable walk around garden centre, well worth a visit.
Had a lovely hour or so with my mum and dad, just wandering around the nursery before each of us having an all day breakfast. We had to chop and change some of the items due to allergies and this was done with no fuss and bother. All three breakfasts were served piping hot and at the same time. They were really tasty and we polished them off in no time. The owners were lovely, informative and it was just a pleasure being in such a relaxed, peaceful environment. Thank you.
