Awful, subpar, unappealing experience. Dined here with friends for a birthday meal recently and the whole experience was very disappointing. Hospitality seems to have gone out the window here. Very tacky old pub furniture. A claw machine near our table is it a restaurant or an arcade?! Staff half assed. Waitress only came to us once during the whole time we were sat down and that was to ask “everything okay?” while walking away with her tablet in her hand not giving us the opportunity to actually respond to the question. Would’ve told her the meat was near inedible, very tough, chewy, uncuttable! We waited ages for our drinks to come too, saw a table who were sat after us got their drinks before us so we asked a lady who was presumably a supervisor where they were and if they were coming, she replied “what were they?” so we all had to repeat our drinks order. They arrived 10 mins later, to the wrong table! So embarrassing. The waitress came over to the table next to us, just put the tray down on their table while they were eating and started taking them off and putting them down, we then told her we think they’re for us, seeing as the quantity of drinks on the tray didn’t match the amount of guests on the table! Sloppy service, she then just whacked them on our table at the end rather than placing them in front of the appropriate guest, making us have to stretch and reach across the table to get our drinks. Clearly training needs to take place here, staff very incompetent, lazy, and no initiative from anyone. Baring in mind it wasn’t busy when we were there, about 4 tables that’s it! Not hard to cover that many tables. Also, the cutlery wasn’t clean nor polished, and they were just laid on cheap tacky tissue napkins on the table, mise en place really needs modernising. Furthermore, the wine glassware is awful. Again very tacky. Serves no function to the wine. Ordered a 175ml and it came in a small glass which made the wine basically fill the glass to the rim, awful presentation. Invest in some proper glassware please. I’ve worked in luxury hospitality for years now, and visit many establishments not all luxury, but this I think definitely comes at the bottom of the barrel! Don’t think I’ll visit again. Advise against coming here, go somewhere nicer anywhere else in Ormskirk at this point. Hopefully you read this review and take what I’ve said on board to better yourselves or I doubt you’ll continue making good business.
Reserved a table for 3, including a toddler, put in the special requirement box for a high chair. Got there to be told there were no more high chairs available, so we had no other options but to leave. Very disappointing when we had a table booked
We were unable to eat here as everything that’s not green has parsley put on it. I hate the stuff and why the powers to be think it looks nice. Well it doesn’t I know quite a lot of people who have stopped eating at Toby Carveries because of this Surely if people want it put a dish of it out with the rest of them let people choose themselves if they want it or not, this chain used to be my favourite of all. Unfortunately it’s now a no go. Understand the higher hierarchy make these decisions and the restaurants have no control I just hope the individual restaurants forward the feedback we do not want parsley there is nothing to gain from adding it and it most certainly doesn’t bring more customers in
Much better than a previous visit. The food was plentiful, well presented and cooked. The staff were very friendly (as always) .
