I used to love going to this place, but now they're good isn't the same. Their rice always taste spoiled for some reason and their egg rolls are always dried out. What happened to them?
This is a buffet. It is not a Chinese buffet. It serves Chinese dishes, yes, but it serves a lot of other things too. The food is buffet quality which means it's not as good as made to order meals. It was a good value for the money.
If you 're looking for a colon cleansing or to relive your college years by spending Sunday hugging the porcelain throne; then this is the place for you. If you are looking for something with quality and that would pass all standards placed by the department of health, this place is definitely not for you. After a long Saturday at the ballpark, my husband and I were looking for a quick bite to eat. The more popular restaurants that we 're accustomed to had 45+ minute waits. I seriously have regretted my lack of patience that night. We passed by Peking and noticed that it wasn 't too busy. We walked in and noticed 1/10 of the tables were full. We sat at a booth and I told my husband this can 't be good if people right around the corner are willing to wait almost an hour rather than eating here. The floors were filthy and had food all over them. It took a waiter almost 10 minutes in this nearly empty restaurant to ask what we wanted to drink. My husband started fixing his plate immediately after. I walked around to view the selection. Majority of the food looked as though it had been sitting a while. Some of the boiled shrimp looked like it was sitting in ditch water. The shrimp itself was starting to fall apart. I ate what I though looked fresh which was only 3 things. I was surprised at checkout to see how overpriced this poor quality food was. We have a Peking in our area that 's half the price, better food and always packed with customers. This Peking in Monroe was a disappointment. I regretted my decision to eat there on my 4 hour travel home. The reminisce of what I ate are now down a highway south of Monroe. It was terrible and had me down for 3 days. Save yourself the trouble and head somewhere else when in the area.
Food not nearly as good as in the past, it varies from visit to visit. It also depends on which Branch you visit in Monroe or West Monroe. Sometimes the bar is not hot enough to keep the food warm. We all usually get the buffet because usually one of our favorite dishes or on there it's cheaper than ordering the menu.In past years that used to be consistently good but has slipped in quality over the past few years. Ironically enough there seems to be a lot of Mexican workers in the Chinese restaurant kitchen it used to be almost completely run the Chinese workers so I don't think they can prepare the dishes as well. I'm 55 and haven't been there since I was college so I was probably about 19 so I've seen it at its best oh, and now probably at I wouldn't say it's lowest but compared to I guess getting there.
