Really quiet on a weekday evening, we made a reservation but didn't need it as we were the only customers our whole stay. I ordered the Wagyu Beef skewer
After enjoying the tastings at other Kinka Family restaurants, I was excited to visit Kintori Yakitori for a new culinary experience.
The service was very good in the past 2 times we visited. The quality of the food is superb. Depending on the chef, sometimes it is less salty. But we like more salty...better with the beer. It is very quiet, which we enjoyed. The variety of the grilled and other entrees are good enough...however, it would be better if they could serve the ramen from their ramen store on the ground floor.Overall, it is one of the best Japanese grill izakaya in the GTA!
The restaurant locates in the heart of Koreatown on Bloor St. It's a handy location near the Christie and Bathurst TTC stations. It's not a big restaurant - only limited seating is available. Ambient is good. Staff are professional. My wife reserved a table and we were seated immediately. Now, the food... I have to say it's a hit and miss. While I have to say I appreciate wagyu, pork belly, chicken, and squid, my wife and I are not big fans of offal meat, like liver, heart, and intestines. I am sure they are well-known cuisines in Japan, but they have no appeal to us. The food are fresh and not heavily marinated. Food portion is small though in any kind of standard. The taste is good, but I often ask myself if I can make the same food at home after a restaurant meal. For this restaurant, my answer is, yes I can, and can probably make it better too. Bottom line is, if you like Japanese kind of BBQ food, you can give this restaurant a go. I am sure some people would enjoy that so much. But it just does not "wow" me in a way that some other restaurants do to me.
