The sushi, including sashimi and Nigiri, is always fresh and delicious! We will definitely keep coming back to Ichiban. Just a heads up, the restaurant is located up a long flight of stairs, so be prepared for that. It may be a bit dated, but we find it charming.
It is a tired old restaurant that has been around for over 25 years. The decor needs updating.I found the food average, the service was poor - only 1 waitress to service the whole restaurant. Lucky that they were not very busy, otherwise I think I would have just walked away.Lots of other restaurants offering similar food in better surroundings, with better service, so I am not going to come here again - that's for sure!
All I can say is, you got to eat here. This is the best Japanese food in all of the lower mainland. Say hi to the chef Jason. The presentation is amazing the food is very high quality. It is my go to place whine I want sushi. I live in Port Coquitlam and I travel all the way to West van for this place and it's food.
Worth going to. Good food. Good value. Beautiful presentations. Must try the udon, the broth is delicious.
Overall quality is not bad but compared to the many Japanese restaurants all over Vancouver this one is just so-so. Traditional Japanese decor that's needing some updates but clean and efficient service. Price reasonable about $20 each with no alcohol. Been in business for 45 years. Can fit large groups, ideal for family - partitions/rooms available.
