I've visited three times now, hoping to become a regular, but unfortunately, the food has been just average. The tacos are average, the quesadillas are average, and all the other dishes fall into the same category. Even a decent taco truck offers better Mexican food. I do appreciate the staff here; they are incredibly friendly, and the service is good. I just hope they can improve the food.
We kicked things off with some drinks. I ordered a watermelon basil aqua fresca, which was delicious—great watermelon juice—but a bit steep at $12. For our appetizer, we shared a peach and corn salad, and it was fantastic—definitely my favorite dish of the day. It was light and refreshing, with perfectly ripe peaches, amazing grilled corn, and a nice lime vinaigrette. As for the tacos, they were deconstructed, which we weren’t expecting. We ordered one plate with carnitas and another with shrimp. The shrimp dish included onions and peppers and was a bit on the small side, served with a sauce that had a curry-like flavor. The carnitas, however, were cooked to perfection—juicy with a crispy exterior and rich fat content. The corn tortillas appeared to be made in-house; they were warm and soft but held up nicely. Overall, this is a place I’d recommend and would definitely visit again.
My wife and I have dined at numerous Mexican restaurants, but this one was truly disappointing. The portions of the food we ordered were so small that I briefly thought we were at a French restaurant. It's clear that this particular Mexican restaurant doesn't value rice and beans as part of their dishes. For instance, how can you serve two enchiladas on a plate drowning in sauce without any rice or beans? It's laughable! This place doesn't offer authentic Mexican cuisine.
Really great meal tonight. The lamb Barbacoa was very good. The carnitas were fantastic served with tortillas and tomatillo salsa. Fantastic. The guacamole and chips were good. The chocolate mousse dessert with peanuts was very very good. I highly recommended the restaurant. It was a lovely experience. We had a bit of a challenge getting more chips and more tacos. Just flagging staff down. Otherwise great.
Had lunch outside on the patio and I must say everything was great. Black bean quesadilla, Carnitas tacos, Pappas....even the coke made with cane sugar was better. Lunch for two was pricey and the only reason I'd dial this back a notch. Price aside it's a 5. For the average Westporter I'd guess it's not a concern. Wait staff was super polite and the atmosphere on a nice day make this a great spot for a meeting with friends, a low key business lunch and even to bring your kids (as long as they are cool with no chicken nuggets. Dinner reservations can be tough. Plan and call ahead. But worth every penny.
