Contribuisci feedbackDuring this visit, I specifically requested a table in the restaurant and it was fantastic! The ambiance was lovely, although I wish the kitchen windows were not blocked so we could see the action. The service was friendly and professional, with no complaints at all. The Kabocha salad was one of the best salads I have ever had, with a very generous portion that included delicious feta and flavorful squash. The field greens salad was also tasty, though it was a bit plain in presentation. My companion raved about his burger, calling it "fantastic" and saying he would definitely order it again. Unfortunately, my flank steak was served cold and the presentation was lacking. The taste was good, however, and the tomato salsa seemed out of place on the plate. The charred green bean side dish was slightly undercooked, but it was still delicious especially with the micro cilantro. The s'mores pot de creme was overly sweet, and the marshmallows could have been more gooey. Overall, it was a great dining experience, possibly our best one yet!
We discovered this restaurant on OpenTable, as we were not familiar with the dining options in the area. We were pleased to find out that it was part of the local college. After some trouble finding the entrance, we were seated by a student who was polite and followed COVID protocols. The service was good, although our server seemed a bit inexperienced. The food was delicious, especially the fresh zucchini and beet salad, which was a bit saltier than I prefer but still tasty. The cherry tomatoes and crumbled goat cheese added a nice touch. The harvest bowl was also a standout, with warm chicken, fresh tomatoes, green rice, and tortilla chips. We hope to return to this restaurant one day.
I met with an old friend from the city and we met here for dinner. I hadn't heard of bistro, probably because there are so many restaurant choices in toronto itself. but this place was great! it's in the grunde a...restaurant in the middle of a cooking school (the weston center for food at durham college) and it's going to be from students who are all at the top of their game when it comes to cooking. the menu itself was quite varied, and I had a hard time to decide what to order. I finally went the Thai court, which was fantastic. they also gave us a basket of red pfefferbrot with tomato coulis. I would never have had it before, never even thought that this kind of appetizer, but it was delicious. they are licensed and serve both beer and wee. my friend had a glass chardonnay and I had one of her craft beer, all or nothing. it is a stout that is finally a place that serves something else, as beer and ipas! I also enjoyed a glass mulled cream ale, which is the same stout beer along with mulling seasoned and grand marnier, served warm. I'll try this recipe for home soon. a few other observations: the place sits about a bit on the small side. they may need a reservation. it is wheelchair accessible; it is on the floor of the cooking school and there is a lift available. our server has told us that they do not have fixed closing times, but they usually do not accept reservations before or so. because the place is in whitby, they must drive or use the GO train. it's right on the thickson road and so it's not hard to find, but a bit out of the way for anyone who lives in toronto right. but if they were to be east of the city anyway, this would be a great place to end the day with a good meal. I'm going to look for an apology to go back.
This fantastic restaurant is located within a culinary college and focuses on using locally-sourced ingredients from nearby suppliers. It is a great choice for those looking for healthy options.
Four of us enjoyed a three-course dinner in which every dish was beautifully presented, without unnecessary frills, and full of wonderful, and often unexpected flavours. We tried two of the selection of local craft beers and I have tasted none better in Ontario. Service was...pleasant, knowledgable and attentive. The ambience is a little unusual but it's obvious that the architect had a lot of fun and so will you.
