But my dinner was great and the chef was accommodating to gluten free issues. I had the Salmon Hanna and it was delicious. My friend had the crab and shrimp Alfredo pasta and she loved that the Alfredo sauce wasn't overpowering the dish. The shrimp were perfectly cooked. The green fried tomato's were amazing. The had a good selection of wines to choose from. Our favorite drink was the old fashion and it was the best I had since arriving in New Orleans for vacation. Service was top notch also. I couldn't have asked for a more lovely evening.
The Mansion Restaurant at Nottoway Plantation and Resort My husband and I spent three delightful days at Nottoway Plantation and decided to have our 16th wedding anniversary dinner on July 25, 2018, at The Mansion Restaurant. Let me begin by saying the food was top notch everywhere else we had a meal in Louisiana. Therefore, we had high hopes for this dinner. Well, what a letdown. For the appetizer, the crab and avocado remoulade had way too much cayenne pepper which overpowered the flavor. For the main course, the Shrimp Crab Tagliatelle, the pasta was overdone, the shrimps were hard as rocks and the artichoke included the hard outer leaves. For dessert, we ordered cream brûlée which consisted of what tasted like vanilla pudding from a packaged mix. Finally, the coffee was watery and virtually tasteless. We rate this restaurant A Pig with Lipstick: The beautiful ambiance and impeccable table service could not cover up for the terrible food. Best regards Laura Melton
If you have 3 hours to waste and want overpriced no flavor food, this is the place for you!!!. Two friends and I had a girl weekend. We stayed at the plantation and were really looking forward to having a nice meal at Mansion Restaurant. The meal was definitely not what we were expecting. No seasoning and just plain terrible. Our waiter was awful as well. We ordered the pecan crusted puppy drum. If you want 3 cups of chopped pecans on your plate, this is the dish for you. The manager came and asked if we enjoyed the meal. We were honest (not rude) and just said that there were a lot of pecans. He pushed the blame on the waiter and said, I always tell my customers there are a lot of pecans on the dish then walked off. After that, bad turned into worse. The waiter never would come back to the table. We asked for dessert menus and waited 30 minutes. Finally ordered desserts and then waited another 30 minutes. The waiter never came back. We finally asked for the manager and he was extremely rude about splitting the check 3 ways. It was just a bad experience. If you have 3 hours to waste and want overpriced no flavor food, this is the place for you. We will never dine here again!
Tried It Again...Much BETTER!. Props to Nottoway Operations Manager Scott Ricci for turing a bad experience into a positive. After seeing a previous post from our visit to their Mother's Day Brunch he quickly responded with an invitation to make things right. In this case, there really was a second chance to make an impression. He made sure our visit to the Mansion Restaurant last night was top notch. It is obvious that Scott is passionate about The Nottoway and a good manager by using us as a teaching moment for his staff. Thank you Scott. Much BETTER!!!
This restaurant is hands down the best I have ever been to. The setting is amazing and the food and service is even better.
