The Standard Taproom - Whiting

They don't serve food but you're able to bring in your own. Great beers.

The place is so nice and they have lots of different places to sit. I went with some friends for the first time, it was not that busy and none of us had ever been there. The bartender wasn’t very friendly, he just looked at us and didn’t even say anything to us. We sat in front of him at the bar, sat for about 10 minutes and we had to ask him for menus. We told him it was our first time and we didn’t know what to order, he briefly told us about how the beer is on tap and they’re all from different places. Obvious answer. We finally ordered and had a few rounds. Towards the end of our visit, we saw people with the samplers. And I told him “hey I didn’t know that was on the menu! You should’ve told us, we would’ve gotten a few of those.” And he just shrugged like “oh well.” I was upset cause it felt like we were not welcomed there. I’ve been wanting to go back, but I’m very hesitant if that’s how you treat the locals.

Amazing service and beer selection. Whiting has a gem with this fine establishment. Will return!

I love beer. I usually like going straight to the source, so you can find me brewery hopping most weekends. Here in Whiting, IN, there is one brewery that I don't love and The Standard Taproom, which serves every type of beer available and literally caters to every possible taste. It's awesome! We were ambivalent about coming here, but we are so glad we did. The owner, Jason, is super nice and had great recommendations. We came on a night there was live music, which was super fun, and the ambience was really chill. We will definitely be back!
