Allie, my server, was cheerful and efficient. Bella Luna's Bella Maggi Salad is my favorite dish at this restaurant. It includes artichokes, tomatoes, carmelized pecans, and thin sheets of parmesan. I usually request either grilled salmon or grilled chicken. I have only had one badly prepared Bella Maggi. Today, I was served my second. My salad did not feature any artichokes or pecans. I could have overlooked that omission with a nicely grilled and flavorful grilled salmon filet. It was neither nicely grilled nor flavorful. I took a chance on the less rare portion of the fish, but left the remainder. When Allie asked if I'd like to take the rest of my salad home, I confessed it was undercooked. She immediately apologized and offered to return it to the kitchen or call for the manager. Having lost my appetite, I declined both of her professional, yet kind offers. Without any request by me, Allie deducted the cost of the salmon from my bill. In return, I provided a 50% tip. I will return to Bella Luna West, where the salmon is always grilled to perfection.
The food here was good initially, but learning that it's mostly boxed and contains food enhancers has made me reconsider returning.
Food was good service was great. Tables are really cramped together so we wound up listening to the couple next table over argue and the table across discuss how he shouldn't drink so early in the day etc etc. Little too much neighbor noise. Steak and Humus was delicious. Portions are generous. You could really split an appetizer and an entre. Parking can be limited so wait til 30 minutes past peak rush or go early.
I don't normally post negative reviews, but my experience was decent at best. Not terrible, but not amazing. Excellent humus to start off with, and the location is gorgeous. Our server did a good job in general. I got the chicken curry, and it was decent. I heard good things and wanted to try it. Not something I would get again though unfortunately. Very, very mild in both spiciness and spice in general. I could excuse that, but our service in regards to the kitchen was poor. My curry came out looking like it had sat under the heat lamp too long, and was brought out well before my fiancee's barramundi. We ended up having to wait a full 10 minutes between getting my curry and her getting her meal, by which time my food was luke warm at best. Our server did her best, but there is only so much you can do when you have to remake an entire fish when everyone else's meals are sitting in the window. I was a server/bartender for years and I can sympathize with being in that position. Overall it was very disappointing compared to many of the meals I've had here before. This one fell well below the standard I've had at Bella Luna in the past. It will most likely be a while before we come back.
