Dockum - Wichita

Ordered the specialty drink ?The Smoking Gun??.according to their menu, it is smoked and served in a Dockum souvenir bottle?for $18. Drink came in a regular glass, didn?t taste smoked at all and the server claimed she had no idea it was supposed to beserved that way and didn?t know how much the drink would cost. She brought over a Bic lighter struggled to use it , to lightan orange peel for presentation ???????? . All this and the fact that they were open but a wedding party was finishing up?.thelights were all the way up and it was so loud in here ambiance was zero. Would not come back. I?ve been to a lot ofspeakeasies and this one was at the bottom of my list.

A fantastic place in Downtown Wichita. It has a relaxed atmosphere and serves delicious drinks.

It?s my 3rd time here. The drinks are great. The atmosphere is okay. For a place that brands itself on the courage and history of black people, it is a shameful. Please, please be more culturally sensitive. At least show movies that show thathistory (the film showing tonight has a white man with a black face! play music and invite artist that build on that tradition! Last time I was here, at least you had good music from black artist playing, today I was disappointed. I might try you again,but please stick to the tradition you claim!

We had a fun experience at the restaurant. We made a reservation, but you have to knock on the door to get in. For some of us, it was our first visit, while others had been there before. The cocktails are intriguing, though they can be hit or miss. My husband really likes the Smoking Gun cocktail, but unfortunately, the smoker wasn't working this time. I tried the Berry Bubbles—it was just okay, but it was quite pretty. The food menu is limited; they offer a burger and a cheese board.

It was an okay experience. I really enjoyed the speakeasy vibe, but the food was just mediocre and extremely overpriced. Our group had a less-than-stellar time. One woman ordered a salad, which was nearly $20, and she didn't realize it came with anchovies, to which she is allergic. While it was her oversight, they did bring her a new salad without anchovies but then charged her for both! Even though they took one away, the server claimed she thought the guest understood she would be charged again and refused to remove the charge. After we prompted her to speak to a manager, he did remove the charge, thankfully. Because of this experience, I probably won't return, but it was a unique one-time visit.
