It is a short walk from the end of the 30 and 31 trams, so it is easy to reach, despite directly at the edge of Vienna. We had an excellent time and worked through a few of the short wine list. All we drank was excellent and locally or not far away). The buffet food, especially the thinly cut cold smoke ham, was also very good and the service friendly. I don't think someone spoke English: I had enough German together with the hint of things not to make this a problem. I don't think they're taking cards like me and everyone else I saw paid in cash. I don't have much experience from Heuriger, but I would be pretty sure that this is an excellent, authentic example. We were clearly the only non-local people there, but were nevertheless very welcomed.
As the first timer in Vienna, my Austrian friend thought that would be a good experience as I like wine. Not disappointed. Authentic, not touristic, I don't speak German, but I can say from the interaction between the staff and my friend, that is friendly place, food was beautiful and wine was excellent. Hidden jewel. Thank you for your hospitality.
The traditional music of Austria was playing by a unique artist who was one of the attractive attractions of this restaurant. this is not only a restaurant but also a special place to enjoy your whole evening and night with family or friends and feel free of any anxiety.
As a group of ten we spent an evening at the “Heuriger” named “Weingut Helm”. This is not a touristy “Heuriger”, but rather a place where locals go. Although there is no music the nice decoration provides a pleasant atmosphere. The hot and cold buffet comprised a sufficiently wide variety of typical Austrian dishes, but was not extraordinary. The dishes that ought to be hot were only lukewarm, as food from a buffet often is. However, the wide range of tasty salads deserves praise and included some varieties one encounters only rarely, like celery, black salsify and leek salads. Of course, what matters most at a “Heuriger” are the wines. In this respect Weingut Helm left nothing to desire. We liked not only the “Gruener Veltliner” and a kind of cuvee called “Gemischter Satz” (or simply “Heuriger” , but also the “Sauvignon blanc” and the red “Sturm” (a grape must in fermentation . We had mixed feelings about our waiter who was already a little drunk when we arrived at 7 p.m. and had become even more so when we left a few hours later. On the one hand he was talkative and quite funny, whereas on the other hand we were not amused that he repeatedly mixed up the wines we had ordered. We considered both food and drinks at Weingut Helm to be priced fairly and really appreciated the evening we spent there.
