I was for the latter. it was beautiful and strong and. I had it with a petty chocolate cake I think was made with real kakao. a quiet place, popular with locals who want to catch a quick rest outside the table or sit inside. I bought Austrian coffee beans for home. I think I'm going back for another bag or two!
This caffe visited twice during the last visit in this beautiful city. if their local paraglider attitude towards tourist is any indication of the peculiarity to avoid this place to all cost! simply went to have a nice cup coffee and an rude local said they know. what they say about tourist and terrorists, they create disorder that I courteously not stolen to its level, but said how is a beautiful city not ruin its call. the employee/owner said nothing, which speaks volumes!
New owners revitalised this great cafe, leaving vintage vibe but now offering huge assortment of coffee beans, coffee machines and snacks for those taking coffee there. Get comfy and look out the floor-to-ceiing picture windows.
It was our first visit to Vienna and we were staying at a decent hotel around the corner. We were on our way to the subway and found Schönbergers coffee shop. This is a completely pleasant surprise, as it's a time capsule from 1955, that...hasn't been molested. The original name of the shop is Naber Kaffee, the original signage is still there, but under relatively new ownership. The staff is prompt and friendly, the owner or his son is usually present, the coffee is excellent, the breakfast pastries are brought in, but good and the ambiance is magically transporting. It may be out of the way from where you're staying, but make an effort to visit this jewel!
