On our previous visit last year when we waxed lyrical over the lack of mobile phones we threatened a return visit, this is it. We arrived unbooked, pored over the options only to find it is Plat du Jour only on weekdays..not quite what we had in mind but we decided to order...how glad that we did. What followed raised the Plat du Jour to a new level....First class food backed by charming service cannot wait to return..... 19nomad37
We found L'Eau a la Bouche on Tripadvisor before our short break and tried to book it only to find it was closed. So we swapped the dates around and went the next day. We were made very welcome and were treated to an excellent meal. Highly recommend a visit.
Lunch is simple 2 choices of entree main, plus a pud. 18 euros the 3 courses. Hot juicy sausage in pastry a round cut from what could have been a gargantuan sausage roll, with pleasant sweetish sauce. Other option, sardine filled egg, looked very appetising. Chose the fish lieu which is so good cooked as perfectly as this, with intriguing prawn flavoured sauce, rice to soak up the sauce and unusual spinach with courgette bacon lardons through it. The large burger (Italienne) and chips looked a man sized meal seemed popular too. The dessert baked apples, skin off caramel sauce came with very rich vanilla ice cream. Add coffee still under 20 euros. Welcome service so charming, ambience lovely, loos good, parking easy, and the chapel garden behind for a gentle saunter.
