Hard to find anything good about the food at Dara Thai. I sorely regret having ordered food there, if the barely edible materials in styrofoam containers even resembled food. The meal was inedible, and came nowhere close to Thai cuisine despite the unjustifiable high prices. The curry tasted nothing like a curry. The overwhelming favor in the curry was Chinese five-spice powder and it had the consistency of a weak soup. None of the ingredients were fresh. Meat seemed pre-cooked, frozen, and tastelessness. The broccoli clearly was old. Very, very disappointed. Food could not have been worse, if they had intentionally ruined it.
After a day with Grand Canyon, we ate dinner in this restaurant. Easily I could say this is the most memorable and satiating Thai food I have ever had.
After eating a lot of American food during our road trip, my friends and I were in the mood for something different. We ended up choosing Dara Thai Cafe for dinner. Due to their COVID-19 protocols, they are available for takeout only. We called ahead to place our order and it was ready 20 minutes later. While they prepare your order, you wait outside. We ordered Pad Thai with Tofu, Panang Curry with Tofu, Panang Curry with Chicken and the Evil Jungle Princess. The Evil Jungle Princess was very lemongrass-y, so if that is not your thing then you probably won't like it. I enjoyed the Pad Thai and the Panang Curry. We got medium spice and that was just right for me. The portions were huge. The four of us could have definitely just ordered two or three of the dishes and been fine. Overall, this was not the best Thai food that I've ever had, but it was still pretty good. For the price it is definitely worth it.
I was really happy to find Thai food in Williams, AZ and wasn't expecting such tasty Panang curry. They are only open for take-out and delivery due to COVID-19. If you're in town and need some non-American food you'll be stoked with Dara Thai.
