My first clue should have been when the waitress nearly rolled her eyes when my wife and I ordered only water to drink. Since we weren't too hungry, we split an enchilada dish and that brought on the full eye rolling. The food was of TV dinner quality and we had to fill up on the chips.
I took some out of state friends up to Williams to ride the Grand Canyon Railroad. We arrived the day before our scheduled train ride. I'd never been to Williams before although I'd driven up to the Canyon several times. After we checked in to our motel we cruised Rt.66 looking for a likely place to eat (and drink . Once I saw the name I had to check it out. Very good Mexican/American chow!! The drinks weren't bad either : The place packed up with a combination of tourists and locals and everyone seemed to be having a good time. That slowed down the refills a bit, but that might have been a good thing. We didn't want to leave, but we had to get up the next day for the train ride to the Canyon. If I'm in Williams again I'll definitely drop in to Pancho McGillicuddy's. Ya gotta love the name!
