I decided to have my birthday here as they have the most amazing singer on the last Sunday of each month from 1pm - 4 pm. I had 12 guests and upon my arrival I learned there was another birthday booked and the place was full to the brim. I chose to have the Feast Banquet, the food came on time and they did not miss a beat. It was simply delicious from the dips and hot bread to the meat balls, pork belly , hams, fish, the food just kept coming and coming, after all of these small plates they then bought out 3 amazing paella, ending with churro & chocolate sauce & coffee's. I could not fault the service , the food or the entertainment. Paul Grant the singer played all the old hit songs and we danced the afternoon away.Thank you so much El Burro for the experience , we will definitely return.
Two couples, we arrived without a reservation on Mothers Day. Sat outside which was nice as the restaurant had several diners and was rather hot. We ordered the Crispy Chicken Tacos, $7.00 each. They arrived, without taco shell, on a cold and small tortilla. A few pieces of chicken and some additional items made eating in three bites a simple matter. At half the price they would not have been good value especially as they were described as a "Mothers Day Special". Fortunately we also ordered the Grande Bravas which was presented in a small paella pan. It was full of crisp potato cubes, pork, chorizo, and capsicum, but had only a very little spicy tomato sauce. Our waitperson was a charming young lady. With two beers and two wines this was a pleasant meal, but would have been much better if the "tacos" had been larger and better value. Looked at food being served to other diners and it appeared to be quite attractive.
When we come to Williamstown a visit to el BURRO for tapas is always on our ‘must do’ list.We were lucky enough this time to be here on a Thursday and sampled their ‘special’ chicken sliders which were priced at just $4 each. The crispy chicken filling made these a ‘present from heaven’- definitely the nicest slider I have ever tasted. The jugs of Sangria on special for $20 for a litre were also a tempting option. I settled for a 200ml glass of the white sangria for $8 but after just one sip – of the nectar from heaven- I regretted not buying a 500ml jug for $16.The stuffed mushrooms are always one of our favourites as is the pork belly which melts in your mouth yet has a lovely crispy crackling. In the past, we have tried their larger shared meal of Carne Paella which was also enjoyable. However, my favourite dining out, experience is always a selection of Tapas and el BURRO has wonderful Tapas. I must revisit, in my memory, the Chicken slider once more. The little bun was soft with a perfect golden brown dome. The crispy battered chicken peeked out from its soft bed, just enough to be alluring, yet retaining a sense of mystery as to what accompanied it. The ratio of filling to bun was just right, enabling the slider to be eaten with dignity whilst providing the perfect balance of flavours.Service as always was of a very high standard.
This is one of my favorite places to eat in Melbourne. The food is always delicious and there's a great selection to choose from. The service can be a bit slow during busy times but the food is worth the wait. There's an outdoor courtyard for when the weather is nice. My favorites are the calamari, chicken wings, and pesto arancini. The meatballs are great too but not for people who don't like it spicy. The banquet meals are a great deal if you're not sure what to start with because they give you a taste of everything.
