We have been going here at this time every year since they opened, each time was a Great experience till now. A reservation was made with the bartender who advised the menus were now combined and no more arepas but the upstairs was still open. Upon arrival we were told the upstairs is no longer open and the reservation wasn't even listed. Everyone tried to be helpful to sort out the confusion but it nearly ended in us not getting a table at all until we requested to speak to the manager who did end up seating us as well as providing a free app for the error. We were given a server who had a section clearly on the other side of the restaurant so when she finally showed up to the table she tried to rush us along stating she didn't want to forget about us, it's your job to remember. Water was barely ever refilled and because we were not ready to order when she was it took quite a while for her to return while we watched her hang out with the kitchen staff. Food was no where close to what it has been in the past, tostones are no longer homemade and quality has declined overall. We will be trying the Lakewood, to find out if this is unique to Willoughby as it appears appears be just this location. The Check also took forever, I had to find her again at the kitchen dancing in order to even pay. Management was kind but still taken a back that we even had an issue. If you are looking for Barroco or even Hola tacos this isn't it anymore! Best of luck to Pulpo Beer!
Great service. Friendly waitress. Loved their salsa and the chips were warm. Yummy. Salsa was also very tasty. We added guacamole for our chips. Healthy portion. Not a lot of meat in the tacos and a bit salty. Nothing the Bourbon lemonade cocktail couldn't cure. Trendy atmosphere along with music.
We stopped by for a date night, it was pretty dead, I think because the feast was happening. It's a cool set up and really fun wall art. Chris was our bartender, he was great, we enjoyed BS-ing with him and talking about bar experiences. We ordered regular margaritas and the condado dip (cheese and chorizo blended together as a dip) and they were great starters. The dip was so good I pretty filled up on that. I completely ordered wrong, it was one of those situations where I just panicked ordered and didn't like my order. My husband ordered the cuban with fries and said it was the best cuban (sandwich) he has ever had. I ordered the other meal he was debating the pernil arepa with a side salad. the arepa was okay, because of the format it's one of the situation where the bites are definitely not equal with filling distributed well, its like pickled onions and guac in the first 2 bites and pork the whole rest of it. The salad was okay, they only have 1 dress which is oil and lime juice and the whole thing felt incomplete but it's a side salad so who has high expectations about that? lol. After finishing our meals we took our last drinks out to the patio to enjoy, it's a really nice patio, definitely an A plus for atmosphere.
Nice place to sit out in the roof top patio. Good vibe even on an overcast day. Service was on the slow side. Not due to staffing I noticed plenty of staff. Think they were giving everyone time to converse, socialize. When we finally ordered I got the Birriarepa with yuca fries. The Arepa (pita-ish was ok. The Birriarepa beef was great. Just fell apart east. The Yuca fries (root vegetable ? Were great. My wife got the steak. It was not bad, it was ok. The sides were meh. Overall we had a nice time there but nothing special. Not sure if we'll be back. (Hola down stairs is completely different and the food is fantastic
My favorite restaurant on the east side. Steak Maduro and birria tortas were amazing. Brewer did a great job on the beers.
