So from the lunch specials menu, my party and I ordered two of the Seafood Stuffed Portobella Imperials. They were magnificent! Imperial made to perfection with dill lime sauce I believe that was fabulous on top. For my entree I ordered the Chesapeake Bay Seafood Cakes. Phenomenal. Pretty much two crab cakes but instead of solely crab meat there was also shrimp and scallops in the mix! Also topped with a nice sauce. I was blown away with how great these were, along with the French fries and coleslaw which were also so so good. Last would be dessert... This is where they lost me. I ordered the Warm Pecan Apple Cobbler and I received instead the bread pudding. The bread pudding (before I sent it back) was a giant corner loaf of dry bread with zero moisture and looked absolutely horrible with the pudding cream part on the side which would still even being added to the bread could not have possibly made the dessert edible. Then comes out the Cobbler. Mushy and obviously not even close to fresh. Could instantly tell after one bite that It has been sitting for days and not served. Probably on the verge of going bad. Loaded with excessive pecans, that 's all you could taste and that wasn 't a good thing trust me. The only thing I could stomach was the apple cinnamon ice cream atop the Cobbler and I didn 't even finish that because I was pretty grossed out by then with their dessert fiascos.
The food tasted okay, but it wasn't hot enough for me.
I went in by myself for dinner on 12/21/23. I was seated right away. I was looking over the menu for about 10 minutes when a server passed by and asked me if I had been taken care of. When I replied “no”, she asked me if she could put in a drink order for me and get me some water. Less than 30 seconds later, my server Kierah B greeted me. The rest of my visit was flawless. Quick service, outstanding food. I ordered one of the specials, Grilled Boston Scallops. They were big and cooked perfectly, served with roasted cubed butternut squash and cauliflower with some sort of a chopped walnut and cranberry? cherry? relish. Kierah checked in with me just the right amount of times and was very pleasant. The prices are comparable to the quality of the food. I highly recommend the BFG Riverfront Wilmington.
I've always had a good dining experience there. This latest trip was for the Thanksgiving Day buffet. This was the first time we tried it and I'm glad we made reservations this year. It was a nice outing and break from cooking. The family members who went along all enjoyed it!
