Hieronymus Seafood Restaurant Oyster Bar

The decor sets a charming, old-fashioned seafood restaurant vibe, making it feel like a place where the food is both fresh and home-cooked. Our server was attentive, but we noticed that our water glasses were never refilled and we weren't made aware of any specials. While the food was decent, it didn't stand out enough for us to prefer this restaurant over others. The blackened scallops were excessively salty, leaving my lips parched and making me extremely thirsty for hours afterward. My partner ordered the fried captain's platter; while the portions were generous, he found the dish to be somewhat bland overall. We did enjoy the coleslaw, which had a pleasant vinegar flavor and just the right amount of mayonnaise. The crab dip, served with toasted bread, was a highlight and quite delicious.

Fantastic food and excellent service in a warm and laid-back atmosphere. We consistently enjoy our time at Hieronymous!

I have only lived in NC for less than two years. While attending the theater productions in Wilmington I found this GREAT little seafood place. Its 75 miles from my home but have made the trip 3 times this year alone .

My husband dog and I visited and enjoyed several of their appetizers and entrees!
