It's a build-your-own Tex-Mex place where you can customize your meal by choosing from a selection of rice, beans, salad, salsa, and more. You can enjoy your creation in a burrito, bowl, or over salad. Unfortunately, I found the counter area to be less than clean, which was off-putting, especially since there weren't many customers at the time. I have to put some of the blame on management for that. However, the food was decent and flavorful, even if it didn't innovate in any significant way. We ended up dining here because Daily Veg up the street had closed early on Sunday, which remains my favorite spot.
I always try to explore restaurants that offer vegan options, but unfortunately, this one didn't impress me. It's a build-your-own Tex-Mex spot where you can customize your meal with rice, beans, salads, salsa, etc. You can choose to have it in a burrito, a bowl, or over a salad. I found the cleanliness to be lacking, which was disappointing, especially since it wasn't busy at the time. I have to attribute some of this to management. On the brighter side, the food was tasty, but it won’t be a standout in my memory. The only reason we decided to dine here was that our usual favorite, Daily Veg, down the street was closed early on Sunday. That place still remains my top pick.
I ordered the Spicy Tofu Burrito and it was quite tasty. I appreciated the variety of options available for customizing my burrito. However, the downside was that the amount of tofu they included was very minimal. With such a hefty burrito, it felt like there were only a few small pieces of tofu inside. I ended up having to request extra tofu, which I was charged for, and while I understand that, it still felt a bit disappointing.
I tried the spicy tofu burrito and it was quite delicious. I appreciated being able to customize my burrito with various toppings. However, the portion size of the tofu was disappointingly small. With such a large burrito, I expected more than just a few pieces of tofu. I ended up having to ask for extra, and I felt a bit scrutinized for doing so.
I was pleasantly surprised when we visited this restaurant shortly after relocating to Newark, DE. These are truly some of the best burritos I've ever tasted! Both my husband and I follow a vegan diet, and we typically order the tofu option, while I usually go for the veggie filling. The guacamole is especially tasty, and the pickled red onions are an ingredient I didn’t realize I had been missing in my life!
