There is a nice outdoor seating area by the water's edge, which is perfect on a sunny day. The interior was cool and comfortable. The food served is typical Wetherspoons fare.
I ordered the breakfast along with a cup of tea. When I went to use the tea machine and returned to my table, I waited for 20 minutes before a waitress approached me. She explained that the manager had mistakenly assumed I had left because he saw an empty table, and as a result, my food was not brought out. The waitress then retrieved a cold breakfast that had been sitting on the counter for 20 minutes. It was a total mess and very disappointing experience.
The service was awful and the staff was very impolite. The tables were dirty and the overall experience was terrible. While the prices may be low, there was no joy in dining here. I would not recommend eating at this restaurant.
I would definitely recommend The King's Head to friends and family. We came for a small hen party dinner and stayed in the Rooms as well. The menu was varied and everyone enjoyed their meals, the service was friendly and flexible. Decor was very tasteful in both the restaurant and the accomodation. Clean and tidy. All staff from bar staff, kitchen, front of house and housekeeping that we encountered were friendly and warm. We had a lovely time and would come again. Large car park. Thank you!
We stayed one night here and would definitely stay again. The room was a good size, had a very comfortable bed and immaculately clean bathroom with good quality toiletries. A little private outside seating area was lovely and it was a shame that the weather wouldn’t co operate so that we could use it. Tea, coffee, biscuits and bottled water were provided. There are only French doors to open to the outside and we didn’t like to leave them open at night as we were on the ground floor but a fan was provided and there are up upstairs rooms available too. We felt the price for bed and breakfast was very reasonable. As we stayed on a weeknight, a continental breakfast was on offer but we really didn’t miss a cooked breakfast as the offerings were delicious homemade granola, crisp and delicious sourdough toast, fruit compote, Greek yoghurt, cheese and meats and plenty of other choices. Staff were friendly and helpful too.
