La Nicoise Cafe - Winchester

Today I had the pleasure of eating lunch at La Nicoise Cafe. Although I am a Winchester resident and the restaurant has been open for 5 years, this was my first time dining there. I guess I 'm one of the many who forget there is more to Downtown Winchester than the walking mall. La Nicoise Cafe is just a few minutes stroll from the center of the walking mall and across the street from the Fire House. It was an absolutely fabulous meal, Frederic is quite charming and is an excellent Chef. We were told everything is prepared in house . The waitress was very friendly and offered excellent service. I found so many items on the menu I would have liked to try that it was hard to pick.. My friend and I decided to order several differnt things to share so we could taste a variety of Chef ' Frederic 's culinary talents. We were delighted with everything we tried from the Classic French Onion Soup to the Pate Campagne, on to the Croque Monsieur served with a deliciously fresh mixed salad with the house dressing and lastly 2 scrumptuous desserts of Warm Blackberries Napolean and Warm Rum Bread Pudding (we just couldn 't decide and had to get both). It was truly a pleasant surprise dining in this little French Cafe. I look forward to tasting more of Chef Frederic 's cooking. Take the walk (or drive) to La Nicoise Cafe, I think you will likely return as I plan to do....
