Sportsmen's Cannery Smokehouse Bbq

My family and I happened upon a charming little harbor town called Winchester Bay. As we drove around, we decided to park and explore the area. We noticed a long line of people outside Sportsmen’s Cannery, which recently came under new ownership, as we learned from one of the staff members. We were warmly welcomed with smiles and positive vibes. The smoked fish we tried was absolutely delicious, and the canned tuna we purchased was the best we've ever had. The owners even took the time to give us a tour of their operation, which was fantastic. It’s always great to connect with people who are genuinely passionate about what they do. After getting to know everyone, we enjoyed our meal at a picnic table in the sun, feeling the refreshing salty ocean air. The halibut fish tacos were amazing and reasonably priced. This is definitely a place you shouldn’t miss. Watching the fishermen bring in their catch through the doors was incredibly exciting for the kids.

I visited Sportsman's Cannery and Smokehouse with the intention of enjoying their seafood BBQ. I started by purchasing some smoked tuna, which I put in my cooler before heading in for lunch. The young woman who assisted me in the gift shop, named Brandi, was very friendly. However, when I ordered the salmon, halibut, and oysters, I was disappointed to find that the meal was extremely overpriced. The salmon was undercooked—still raw in the middle—while the halibut was overcooked. Based on my experience, I would not return to this restaurant or buy any of the questionable fish in the shop. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience, and I intend to advise everyone I know to stay away from this establishment. Additionally, I felt overwhelmed by two men, who seemed to be owners, who wouldn't stop promoting the cannery. It was quite irritating and made for an awkward experience, reminiscent of dealing with used car salesmen. I will definitely not be going back. If anyone is considering a visit, I would recommend skipping this place and heading to Florence's Crab Kettle instead, where you’ll find much better service and quality products. Avoid Sportsman's Cannery and Smokehouse!
