AWFUL! Scuffy, dirty, worn out sticky carpets held together by duct tape. A small group of local regulars were playing darts and swearing their heads off....
The first time I walked in here I was disgusted, having worked in lots of pubs myself over the years the fact that there were half empty glasses everywhere...
Pop in for a drink here quite regularly and atmosphere is a relaxed and friendly, but can become a bit loud in the evening. Have also had lunch and evening meals, which have been good quality.
Staff excellent, however!!! Prosecco was served at room temperature, replaced by staff, then new small bottle was slightly chilled and for a very small bottle £9.50.Now for the meal, I ordered ribeye steak at £22. Mushrooms cold, tomato not cooked, plate cold, staff apologised , replaced mushroom and tomato, again came out not cooked. Steak was fair but not good, as for what they call triple cooked chips, they are chewy and awful, the chef should hand the hat in!!!!My wife ordered steak and ale pie, pastry ok, gravy very thick, one vegetable which was underdone tough cabbage leaves. We complained and £15 was deducted from the bill. It’s such a shame lovely pub and staff very good, however it is all sadly let down by the awful food.
