After taking a home barista course, my wife, dog, and I stopped by this charming coffee shop for a coffee. It had a quirky and friendly atmosphere with a couple of outdoor seating areas. The pasteis de nata were delicious. Just a heads up, parking during the week is located next to the community hall, not directly outside the coffee shop.
I attended the Home Barista Course today with no previous experience in making coffee beyond instant supermarket options. Gemma led the course, starting with a background on coffee, the roasting process, and its history, which was informative and set the class off to a good start. Gemma taught us about ratios for different types of coffee, and she helped me set up my own coffee machine and provided valuable advice on maintenance. I was able to use my machine throughout the course, which helped me to quickly become familiar with it. We practiced making many different types of coffee and learned how to steam milk and pour for various drinks. Overall, the two-hour course for £60 was well worth it. The location of the shop was easy to find, and I definitely felt like I received my money's worth. I would highly recommend this course and a big thank you to Gemma for a fantastic experience - I'll definitely be returning for the Latte Art course!
Have taken Latte Art and Home Barista courses. Both were very enjoyable. The tutors are very knowledgeable and friendly also patient and obviously wanting to help you progress as much as possible. For the HB course I took my machine and grinder and was guided through dialling in, timing and colour. Lots of tasting too. This was really great for me and I am much better set up; and better armed to reset for different beans. My wife thought the coffee I made when I got home was excellent. So........ Real proof of the effectiveness of the course. I was bought these as a gift from my family and was a little sceptical as to what they could teach me, after all I've been making coffee for 50+ years. Turns out they taught me a lot! They also roast excellent coffee!
I must have driven past this place a dozen times on my way to see my mum. Saw the sign and pulled in. Went into the cafe and got a warm welcome. Really cosy and clean and friendly attentive staff. Ordered a couple of nitro brews and a banana flapjack to go and was really impressed with the flavours and quality of both coffee and cake. A couple of tables outside in the sun and lots of seating inside. Recommend you try it and support a local business. Well done
