There was a big group of us as opposed to two of us on our previous visit but that shouldn't make too much difference. We ordered a banquet which in most restaurants gives you a taste of the best they have to offer so I assume that this was the case. It was $38 pp. There wasn't a banquet listed on the menu but we thought that being a large group this would be easier. We had spring rolls then several different dumplings, a main course of chilli beef, rice and vegetables and followed by ice cream. The only sauce was sweet chilli with the spring rolls, the dumplings were quite bland, nothing that you can't buy yourself in Costco. Last time we were there we had the best pork buns I had tasted. Service wasn't good either.....disappointing.
Recommended by a friend so went looking for this side street gem. Wow !! Set in a 'warehouse' filled with Asian antiques, this restaurant specialised in handmade dumplings. The lobster, scallop & prawn dumplings were outstandingly good; the duck rolls in beanchouse made giant pork dumplings with vinegar.
There was a group of 9 and all of us enjoyed the meal and the ambianc abd. The food was excellent and the service equally so. The decor was original ,also the dumplings were so tasty. All in all a very pleasant experience.
Booked in for a celebratory yumcha. The interior of the restaurant was quirky in a good way. The food was very nice, service a little slow. Yum cha, was not a typical yum Cha, you had to order off a menu rather than options being brought to your table. It did ensure food was cooked to order however it also meant you had to think about how to balance your meal.
Really enjoyed the atmosphere of this restaurant. You were spread out and surrounded by Chinese artefacts. The quality of the food was also excellent. The dumplings were beautiful and I really enjoyed the flavours of all the dishes we had. The negatives are that it is not like yum Cha at other places as you order the dishes yourself and have to estimate how much you want to eat. The prices also seemed a bit expensive for yum Cha but I decided that was due to being in Chapel St and the quality was very good. The decor, atmosphere and quality of the food would tempt me to return despite the negatives of price.i
