We like the enclosed nook in the dining room, where four of us friends squeeze in for a good lunch time chat over excellent food. Thursday 22nd February was different and we enjoyed it less. The Calves liver was terrible, but above all the waitress was sullen , cold , almost hostile we don't know why ! It dampened our fun and spoilt the outing. But , we'll go again for sure and hope this was just an aberration. The liver seemed like it might have come from a horse or hippopotamus !!
Had a family dinner at the Duke of Edinburgh and we had a lovely evening. Good simple food and the staff were very good. Recommended. Paid another visit in October 2023 and had another enjoyable lunch. Another lovely lunch in December.
Three mature women had a delightful and leisurely Sunday lunch at this restaurant. The staff were friendly, efficient, and professional. Thank you.
Generally very good but food can be hit and miss. And it's not cheap. 3 starters, 6 mains and 3 desserts plus drinks... £260. Can't justify that I'm afraid.
I called to book a late lunch for a special work colleague 80th birthday. unfortunately we only had a window and the kitchen closed. the owner was wonderful came with an ideal solution. we had a fantastic buffet. the table was open and we hadn't asked anymore. I would certainly recommend the duke of edinburgh if the service we have is everything to go to no further. thanks for a wonderful afternoon.
