Found the service great, but upon making a choice on the menu, the waitress told us that they ran out of some of the food and we had to make other choices. The choice we made was club sandwiches with fries, and I can tell you they were a very large portion, and was very tasty. There were many flies in the restaurant, but that had to be expected in the country. Will we visit again, probably if passing by.
Hungry and on the road near Slocan? This is a great spot to stop. Really good food - generous servings - and the pie speaks for itself. I would stop there again!
I will start with a disclosure that i am one of the last people who would spend even a minute writing a review on anything, never mind one on a restaurant that i've heard so much about.None of it positive. none the less i felt so strongly about the incredibly poor quality of both the ingredients and food preparation that i felt it would be a disservice to humanity not to.For an establishment that claims it's worldly authenticity of Mexican to Indian to Greek i would honestly say ,without a doubt, it was one the worst meals i've ever had the pleasure of not being able to eat.The soulvlaki was dry as sand with rice so nuked it resembled plastic beads all served with cardboard pita bread and a "Greek" salad without olive oil but lots of iceberg lettuce.Just like all Athenians make in the motherland. The Fajitas were straight out of an El Paso taco kit with a cheap baron of beef roast done in a slow cooker, shredded and burnt on a skillet, mixed in with some mushy peppers and something that resembled a onion. The pakoras were random veggies battered and deep fried to oblivion. The tamarinds sauce was good though.well worth the money, really?Aside from all the great food the restaurant was dirty ,mismanaged and dangerously bordering on a health hazard, with cigarette butts littering the outside seating area.If those are the things you are able to see one can only guess at the state of the kitchen.nasty and deplorable. The claim that they use locally sourced produce seems a bit of a stretch considering a commercial food truck was spotted delivering food supplies the next day.If you are still reading this babble i would just like to say that anyone that serves dishonest, poorly cooked food is seemingly just in it for the money and has zero respect for their clients and patrons.Good food doesn't have to be fancy and exotic.Just made with a bit of love and respect for the people who eat it .Best to look elsewhere, anywhere else.
They have a lot to offer at Mama Sita's Cafe. Anything from Burgers to salads to pizza and more. And it's locally sourced. We ate here on our visit back in June. That time we had their burgers and they were pretty good. This time, we had their Tres Tostada's. OMG were they delicious!! They come with beans and cheese and veggies and then you have the option to add like chicken or beef for an additional charge. We got chicken on ours and yum. We took ours to go, as we were having issues with a rental car and were waiting on a tow truck. It was probably a good half hour after picking them up, that we finally go to eat and they were still very good eats! It was a LOT of food, but we were starving from having hiked up Gimli Peak that day. We would definitely eat here again, if back in the area (heck, they'd be worth the drive in from Nelson!). And I will also add the service was exceptional. Although it was crowded and busy (it was open mike night), our server was very friendly and even lend a sympathetic ear. Thank you!!
Thought we'd stop for a bite to eat. Service was good and the food was tasty. The only downside, was how grubby the place was; we're talking 'old' dirt. Washing the floors and windows would greatly enhance the restaurant; glad I never saw the kitchen.
