We were just passing through and stayed at the Best western on our way to Amargosa so we were walking distance to this place and the variety looked the best. I didn't see any Mexican dishes on the menu like I saw some photos of but maybe that's the difference between their lunch and dinner menus. We were there for dinner. We started with the clams which were perfect and then we each had the soup and salad. I could tell they make their own chowder because there were so many clams in it and it was so yummy! I was nervous to order fish because so often they dry it out when cooking but the sauce was amazing with it and the veggies were tasty too. I couldn't eat the rice as I was so full the fillets were biiiiig. Highly recommend!!
Toasted Tavern is not really a tavern; more like a diner with a small bar. fish and chips: Ok, maybe a bit soggy. coleslaw: bland, yet tasteless Weak draft list. They need a couple local brews. Service was spot on. No issues there. That said, TT might be one of the bright spots in Winnemucca.
Stopped here for lunch and it's a good spot. Got the burger with applewood bacon, mushrooms and Swiss cheese (onion rings for the side). It was tasty. It's not a full on homemade burger but the meat is tasty and the onion rings were cooked perfectly. They have great service too. Gotta try dinner so I can get a steak next time...
Doesn't look like much from the outside but that changes as soon as you enter the door. Newly remodeled inside with a Mexican vibe of course. We had our choice of seating and I wondered far enough back to spy the bar, that's how we roll. Wife ordered a margarita and I went for a beer. Much to my surprise and delight the beer came in a huge frozen mug! I so needed this. Wife margarita wasn't the best and feeling bad for her I ordered some shots. Frozen shots of tequila! That's an attitude changer. Totally love the way they serve them. The food was even better. We shared a vegetarian burrito and the carnivore in me had to have the bacon wrapped shrimp...sooo good. We ate early and had the bar to ourselves. A nice evening for us so far away from home. .
Had dinner here and... eh. The food is straight out of the US Foods truck with a bit of modification. Lobster ravioli was described as a basil sauce ended up being the canned Alfredo sauce with some chopped basil on top. Beef stroganoff was 5/10... beef present but more mushroom than beef but was actually a cube of something like a strip steak, not bad not great. Some of the items that people were reviewing either aren't on the dinner menu or we're not available. Service friendly, but wouldn't bother heading back again which stinks because we need more local food options in town.
