Dalat Restaurant - Winnipeg

My wife and I dropped in mid-afternoon for a light lunch of Honey Ginger Chicken and Chicken Fried Rice. It was tender, delicious, and ample. We will return soon for dinner and bring some friends.

Dalat is a Chinese-VIetnamese restaurant located at Grant Park Festival. I don’t know why they call a collection of shops a festival. However, I digress before I begin. After visiting the Boston Pizza here, I decided I would give Dalat a try as well. Restaurants that try to mix cuisines are always an interesting experience. Rarely do they do both well. Pho Mama’s being one notable exception.

Been going to Dalat for years, this place is underrated. Food is always very tasty and fresh. Friendly staff and great environment. It's quality Chinese food and service for a reasonable price. Love the honey garlic veal, pan fried shrimp and ginger fried beef

Good food, great service. Dalat was a pleasant surprise. Despite yielding a contemporary atmosphere exemplified by its modern decor, there is still a fast-foodish feel to the menu. The consomme is quite delicious and has fried crisps in place of the rice found in its equivalent at other restaurants. The entrees were overall delectable, however some of the items listed on the menu as 'spicy ' disappointingly lacked heat in my opinion. If you really like the heat, make a special request with your server. One thing to keep in mind prior to dining at Dalat is that it is not a typical fast food restaurant so the price to portion ratio is not reminiscent of many other Vietnamese restaurants (ie. You pay more for a smaller portion). The notable exception being the vermicelli dishes (out of the dishes that I have tried anyway). The fried vermicelli and shrimp dish does taste good however there were too few shrimp to be proportionate with the volume of noodles accompanying them despite the large size of the shrimp. One of my favorites was the shrimp with green pepper and spicy salt, although you can find this dish under different names at several Asian fast food restaurants, Dalat 's fares strides above the others. Service is quite good and staff are quite attentive to water-levels.

This is one of the best Asian restaurants in the city. I have been getting take out and eating in for over 10 years and never disappointed! The food is always fresh and authentic and tastes delicious. The service is a as good as the food. They go out of their way to accommodate my particular dietary needs. Special thanks to the manager Ming! Even the delivery staff go the extra mile. Well done!
