Deens Caribbean Restaurant and Patio

My first time trying out Caribbean food in Winnipeg and I must say it’s a good experience. It’s inexpensive for what you receive as a meal, one roti meal can feed two. Spice is right and the special touch of hotsause for take away meals....Was a pleasant surprise.

We enjoyed a great night with our friends at Deens on the patio! The food and service were excellent! The Handsome Dave band helped everyone enjoy a fantastic summer night in the Peg! You'll never know who will stop by! Forest Whitaker was happy to...take photos with his fans!

We have not ordered from here for a while but picked up rotis tonight and we were very disappointed. The filling lacked any kind of discernible taste and the shell appeared to actually be a tortilla shell, not a roti shell! Will likely not be...back.

My wife visited this place a couple of times back in the 80's, but she couldn't remember much of it, except for that she had loved it. We've been wanting to try it for a while, but after reading some recent reviews stating that the...management had changed and the food had gotten worse, we were leery. However, we finally decided to eat at Deen's, and we were NOT disappointed. I don't know how the food was before, but if it really did get worse, it must have been phenomenal, because I really loved what we had. I've eaten a lot of Caribbean food, and from what I could tell, Deen's is pretty authentic. We started with the Doubles, which needed a bit of salt but were otherwise wonderful. I had the jerk chicken and my wife had the curried chicken roti. The homemade hot sauce that they served on the side was over the top; so good! It really allowed us to make our dishes exactly as spicy as we wanted, no more and no less. I loved the cozy, cramped atmosphere. The place was immaculately clean, and this included the bathrooms and what we could see of the kitchen. Service was friendly and prompt, and prices were very competitive. We will definitely be back.

Eating and service is always great! absolutely love their lazy and Jamaican patties! never disappointed!
