Dolce Bake Shop - Winnipeg

Just home from picking up a cake for a 55th birthday party tonight, a cake that was ordered and paid for on 3 May for pickup between 11am and noon today. I arrived to pick it up at 11:45 only to be told the cake hasn’t been written on and the baker wasn’t there!! The only option presented from the two women working there were to plaster some childish looking numbers on the cake, which I declined. In fact, they seemed to find my irritation with the situation amusing and did nothing to try improve the situation. My question is this: if the baker wasn’t even there, then the cake wasn’t baked today anyway (which is common practice I imagine) so why hadn’t it been written on? To add insult to injury, I drove 45 minutes across the city to pick this up and then another 45 minutes back and still have to try to sort out how to get the cake written on. Very poor experience with a bakery that has slowly declined over the past few years. Will not return.

Overall pretty good. Great selection and beautiful decorations. But....not as delicious as I was hoping. Crust was overworked, tough and too thick. Lemon filling was just whipped cream, not enjoyable. Brownie was too cake like. I'm always sad when baked goods don't live up to their image. I would go back try some more, but I hope they can put more love into flavour.

Seems expensive when you go in there, but after trying one of their cakes, you’ll understand why you pay that much. There is clearly some love put into these deserts, and for this reason I have become a repeat customer. I even asked for a cake that they don’t normally carry for a special occasion, and they were happy to make it for me.

Best butter croissants ever! Not to mention the white chocolate raspberry cream cake my husband gets me annually for my birthday, soooo delicious. Delicious custom cakes and pastries baked fresh with fresh ingredients at reasonable prices.
