Contribuisci feedbackA truly great experience. This place was my first time trying Eritrean food and it blew my mind. The service was courteous and attentive, the food was excellent and the atmosphere was relaxing. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a new food experience.
I have found my new favorite Ethiopian restaurant in the city. Although it took some time for our food to arrive, we were not surprised as this is typical of Ethiopian restaurants. The menu selection was excellent and the food was delicious. The atmosphere of the restaurant was also very pleasant. I highly recommend this place!
The atmosphere of the restaurant was dimly lit, creating a cool and relaxing vibe. Despite reading reviews about slow service and food, I found that neither was an issue. The staff were friendly, attentive, and efficient. The Ethiopian cuisine was incredibly delicious, and it was a unique experience eating it without utensils. I highly recommend this restaurant and would definitely return. Just a heads up, there are a few flights of stairs to climb and the bathroom is on the smaller side.
For appetizers, we started with 2 Sambussa's, similar to East Indian Samosas with a filling similar to Indian Achar or Chutney. Our mains were the Massawa Specialty Dish B and the Lamb Yebeg Tibs, a combination of chicken and beef with split peas, spinach, lettuce, and Injera bread. The food was mildly spicy with hints of curry and hot green chili peppers. Eating with our hands, as there were no silverware provided, added to the ethnic charm of the experience. We were each given a bowl of hot water with a lemon wedge to cleanse our hands, a unique and cool way to enjoy the meal. Overall, we had a thoroughly enjoyable experience with a nice atmosphere, friendly service, delicious food, and reasonable prices. We had no complaints and would definitely recommend Massawa to others. It's important to keep in mind that different cultures have different foods, ingredients, and dining customs, so approach the experience with an open mind and positive attitude. If you're looking for typical "White-man" food, Massawa may not be the right choice for you.
Consistently a solid bet.Always get the vegetarian platter with extra injera, share with someone and can barely finish! Massawa is one of those places where you always order the same thing and it's always good.
