Sam Jones Bbq - Winterville

I typically enjoy dining here, as the food is usually excellent. However, my baked potato was cold and hard. The quarter chicken breast was barely warm, and the cornbread was stale. I was so disappointed that I ended up throwing the entire plate away.

I was quite disappointed with my recent takeout experience. Unfortunately, the wait for ordering was just as long as for seated customers. I ordered the 2-pound rib plate, and I was let down by the portion sizes – the sides were minimal compared to the amount of meat. When sharing the dish, each person ends up with just a bite or two of sides, while there’s plenty of meat. However, the meat itself lacked flavor; I couldn’t detect any hint of hickory or seasoning. To make matters worse, they only provided two tiny 2-ounce containers of barbecue sauce, which isn’t nearly enough for all the meat. I was really hoping to enjoy my meal. On a positive note, the staff were quite pleasant and appeared to be very patient!

If you're looking for authentic Eastern NC BBQ, I recommend heading to Parker's or Marty's in Wilson. This was my first and last visit here. B's BBQ in Greenville is also excellent, but make sure to arrive early since they close when they run out of food.

The way they have the ordering process was very pleasant, the food was out quick and delicious. Would definitely recommend the BBQ. The sweet sauce on the table was perfect!
