Would definitely not recommend it for the food, if you just want to experience eating in a tipi sure go for it. On top of that to hear her complain that she hardly makes any money and does this just for pleasure was a little uncomfortable. The food served should not cost $50 by any means to the cook.
Note this is a seasonal restaurant, so they are open Spring thru Fall. 21+ only. One of the most relaxing and delicious dinners I have ever had, anywhere! Suekii is an amazing hostess and chef. The location is a bit remote, and it helps if you have a vehicle with relatively high clearance to get up the final hill and driveway. The tipi is warm and welcoming, with a circular table with a fire pit in the center. It seats 8 people max and would be a great place for a four couple celebration! The night we were there, it was just my husband and me. Such an intimate dinner experience. Suekii was very attentive, but not at all intrusive. We asked her to sit with us and talk over dessert, and very much enjoyed getting to know her. Now, to the food....it was amazing! First course roasted red pepper hummus, olives, cheeses, beef jerky (local and best ever), crackers Second course bison, Emmer Ferro pilaf, roasted corn with local Hanna's popcorn spice, fresh baked creamy corn muffins. Dessert fruit crisp with ice cream and Blue Star coffee. I enjoyed the local Lost River red wine, and hubby opted for beer (alcohol is extra). $50 per seat. Well worth it!!
Simply an amazing experience you must check this out when in Winthrop. The food was great and clearly crafted with care. The ambiance was wonderfully unique. Our host was a new friend by the time we parted. It all adds up to a very special evening.
One of the BEST dining experiences we have EVER had. We had the whole tipi to ourselves tonight with the delightful company of our hostess, Suekii. Oh, my goodness!! Delicious. Relaxing. Couldn't have been any better. We will be back!!
A great, unpretentious experience in a not so ordinary environment. It's more like enjoying a meal on a small island where we eat in someone's home, though this really is a tipi right near their home.
