Went in January for night drinks with a friend. Over priced staff very slow Then I find out from a friend that Staff make threats when people leave a 1 star review on other sites. That person was forced to take the review down due to threats. Avoid avoid avoid this vile place!!!!!
Food was lovely and service staff were great .Very reasonably priced as well Kids meals were good too xxx
Thought we’d try Bebington’s new gastro pub/bar, arrived here soon after 6pm last Friday and it wasn’t busy, oh well we crack on. The room is quite large, bar on the right, TV’s above it showing live football and live horse racing, no sounds from them though, just visuals (well at that time anyway). Music is playing and it is rather load and intrusive, tunes such as various disco and classic 80s were playing, good tunes actually but not at the level they were playing. We ordered a couple of drinks, there was no real ale on so I had a Guinness Sat at a table up on the left, it wasn’t warm in the room, my wife left her fleece/jacket on but the refurb was nice, you can see a lot of money had been spent. The waitress arrived with the menu and it looked good, lots to choose from I ordered the duck spring roll for starters and the chicken cheese bacon for main, my wife just went for a main, belly pork was her fancy. Unfortunately there was no belly pork, probably should have been removed from the menu beforehand but no bother, the salmon noodle dish was ordered. My starter arrived and I must admit it was bloomin lovely, really meaty, large, a very good start. However the room was still a little cold and the music was far too load for us to talk to each other over a meal, but hey ho. The mains arrived and they looked good, my wife’s salmon looked ace and she gave it a thumbs up, my chicken was slightly over cooked but only slightly (and I am fussy on chicken) and some of the veg was a little over done too, but the chips were fantastic and all in all both dishes were good. Unfortunately it was still not busy, another couple were eating but they stopped further away down in the corner at the front, probably quieter. Then the emergency exit doors were opened and the disco for later arrived. So in an already cold large room the fire door is now wide open letting in the cold evening air, my wife was now very cold and now rather annoyed, I couldn’t disagree. Staff than started to make room for the disco, loudly moving tables and chairs, banging speakers around – all of this whilst we are trying to have a nice meal, oh dear. Once they got set up they then started testing the sound, yep so they blasted a few seconds of music several times, not a peaceful meal !!!! We finished our meal and decided against a dessert, my wife was fancying something on the menu but she said she was tired of the noise and the cold – I agreed with her, we paid the bill and left. On the plus side…….. Bebington needs different places for food and the food on a whole was pretty good. Staff seemed nice, our Waitress was chatty and helpful. Toilets have been nicely done. The place has been done out well, clearly somebody has invested a lot of money. The negative stuff………. Music far too load for an establishment selling gastro food, I simply couldn't hear what my wife was saying to me over a table. Sport on TV’s not really in the gastro theme either. Cold room. Disco arriving and moving tables whilst I was eating (and I mean right next to us). Not letting us know when arriving the disco was coming, should be informed when theme changing. They really need to decide what this place is, are they going down the gastro pub route then if so they need to ditch the load music and the disco now. TV screens above the bar, if a sports bar then it’s not a gastro pub or somehow divide the room up, sports bar at the front and food at the rear is a possibility ?? If it’s a disco venue bar then it is simply not a gastro pub (it cannot be both), sell snacks and change the seating plan around (hopefully before people are sitting in it), it is far too much noise whilst having a meal. Once a decision has been made what exactly they want to do then I may return, but unfortunately we won’t be returning if it stays the same and if I’m being honest, I don’t think it’ll last long in its present format which is a massive shame. Good luck to connections and I hope to make the right decisions.
Called in for an early evening drink. Staff hadn’t been trained how to use the tills and it took ages to pay the bill, drinks seemed expensive unless the local rate for gin and tonic is £5.50 now, the bitter was off (and I don’t mean they didn’t have any, it tasted rancid). Any of these things can happen but to have them all on one’s first visit isn’t good. It has been open for a while. Also loud background music interrupted by adverts and televisions on over the bar. If the management want it to be a sports bar then fair enough but it can’t be that and a place for a quiet drink and also a restaurant. Speaking of which the evening menus had been removed from the notice boards outside with no explanation. That’s a pity because it was the menu that attracted us. I wish the place well as I live in Bebington and I don’t like seeing empty shops but it needs to change before I go back again, perhaps I’m not the age of customer they’re after.
